I grew up firing my dads single-six, but since he doesn't seem to be in any hurry to let loose of it, I was looking at a Heritage to use to plink and to teach my twin boys how to shoot. Any thoughts on them?
From what I hear, they're OK, not a Ruger, but not junk. You get what you pay for and for under $200 for a revolver, it's a pretty good deal for teaching a boy to shoot.
Others will be along, but I think the gist will be the same.
I have the Heritage with the 4.75" barrel and have no problems with it. I kind of like the safety deal on it and you can adjust the front sight. On adjusting the front sight I used very light taps with a plastic headed hammer. I also have a Ruger single six and it is made better, but the Heritage is still okay to really plink with and that is what I mainly do with it.....
