Just looking for a little help identifying this part / piece. The only mark on it is the flaming bomb.

That's a bolt stop from a Model 98 Mauser, but I've no clue what the ordnance bomb is doing on there. Perhaps it's an Axis marking that only closely resembles the US mark?

Close.... my money is on a U.S. Model 1917 bolt stop.

The flaming bomb mark makes much more sense in that regard, too.

Did a closer look at both.... I think y'all are right.

The flaming bomb is what's driving me crazy though.

Edit: Possible that flaming bomb is a Spanish ordnance mark, which would make that a Spanish mauser piece. I have similar marks on my old Astras, but they are large enough that they also have a 'P' inside the circle.

The Spanish Flaming Bomb cartouche using has an 'MP' over an '8', but maybe it was just too small to do it to this (as you eluded to)?
