I have been dealing with daily migraines every day for the last 5 years and had them off and on quite a bit before then. I'm only 24 and for a long time I honestly thought that everyone had migraines quite often. I am getting to a point where I just can't deal with it anymore even on painkillers they are still far from Under control and so far doctors have been worthless. I went to the st.Vincents migraine clinic and had botox injections in my head and it didNT help at all.

So my question is.. Is there anyone on here dealing with the same or similar situation? If so have you found any good doctors that actually helped or is helping you? The migraine clinic said my only other option is the mayo clinic. I really can't afford it and with a baby on the way in December and my wife is dealing with injuries from the army so I do most of the stuff around the house and take care of our 20 month old. http://www.masterdryneedling.com/

If you have any advice for a good doc or maybe a pain specialist or neurologist I would appreciate it. There had to be something that can be done. I have tricare prime insurance.
I have tried almost every natural remedy I could find online and only had very minimal relief.

Hope someone can offer some advice.thanks

I had heard magnesium supplements can help. At least that is what a friend of the family said.

    Almost every natural remedy? :shady:

I know one that might work. It's easily attainable but don't get caught with it!

Ok, ok now to the serious part. I had a month long migraine in February that was so bad that for a time I was exhibiting stroke like symptoms. Near the end of the experience I got an appointment with a neurologist on the south side. By the time I actually got in I was fine so YMMV. I'm not sure of his name but he's associated with Community Health Network and has an office in Greenwood and Martinsville. He seemed to know his stuff, based on some personal experiences I had in his office.

I've had them and can sympathize. The worst are the ones that stick around for several days. Mine usually start with the vision problems and I've got about 5 minutes to get a few Motrin in my system before the pain hits. Most of mine have the same scary stroke like symptoms you mentioned and I've had them since about the 5th or 6th grade. You are doing the right thing by looking for a good doctor. I haven't had any great luck there, but did a LOT of reading up on it for myself.

I found that food allergies and vitamin deficiencies trigger a lot of mine. An Iron deficiency will bring them on, the chemistry in some foods will trigger them (for me it is red wine or Pepsi Cola ~ yes, I know it's weird). I've read that inconsistent meals (eating late or skipping meals) and inconsistent sleep patterns (like what we all do on the weekends) can trigger some. Good luck to you, please share if you find a good fix.

just had an MRI for mine. They are not daily, more like every other month. They start out with optical aura's... basically your vision is skewed... you cant read cause half the sentence is blurry, you feel out of body, and then boom you got a full blow migraine.

My MRI came out good, im going back tomorrow to get put on some script to help out when I feel one coming on... Im 23 and have never suffered any type of trauma or accidents.

Ill let you know what they prescribe or possible causes...

Thanks so far everyone. I have tried the magnesium and it seems to h help take the edge off sometimes. I have had MRI's and all they found that I had degeneration in my spine but said that wouldn't cause it. I have arthritis pain in my knees, shoulders, and lower back that I feel could be related but the docs seem to think its not. The migraines are literally every day and right now I'm on 5-6 norco 10-325 a day and it lasts about 2 hours and they are back again.I hate taking that stuff and we eat healthy and I don't drink a lot of caffeine and hasn't found any triggers so I'm very frustrated. I hit a pretty low point this week after I tried a new doctor and before I had a chance to switch all my records and proof he basically told me I was too young to have so many problems that it was impossible and I'm just looking for drugs.it upset me because the obvious and the fact that he is going to stop me from making any progress.

Find a good doctor, you don't have time to convince this guy that you have a medical issue.

If he wanted to ensure you weren't a drug seeker he would put you on a contract, you would submit to a drug screen, and would likely be screened occasionally thereafter to ensure what he prescribes for you is in your system and what he didn't prescribe for you is NOT in your system. At least that's what most proactive physicians in the industry are starting to do to protect themselves as well as keep a solid eye on their patients true issues. :twocents:

I'm just afraid of what he put in my record.I have every bit of proof he just hadn't seen it yet. I would have no problem jumping through their hoops of they are going to help me since I understand there are a lot out there with dishonest intentions.

You have a legal right to view what he put in your medical record. There is also a complex process for you to request it be amended if you disagree with his notes.

Migraines are ugly and painful. I've had them long enough to know that there are days you would rather jab yourself in the eye than take something that will make you feel spaced out and probably not touch the pain or the symptoms. That's probably why I've given up on physicians and tried to resolve it myself when I can. I was tired of the "Ok, that didn't work. Let's try this now...". Sometimes the "cure" was worse than the problem.

I'm subject to migraines. I've gotten really good at identifying the earliest symptoms and I carry a bottle of Relpax with which to head them off at the pass. Without Relpax, a migraine is guaranteed to sideline me for 48 hours minimum. With Relpax, I'm over the migraine in a couple of days.

Two years ago about this time of year, I had a migraine and lasted continuously for two and a half months.

Thank you.I will check into it and see what I have to do.I just hate to think he will prolong me getting any care any longer asi just don't know how much longer I can keep on like this.not that I have much choice I guess. I'm thinking about trying some sort of juice fast or cleanse to see if that works since I'm getting desperate.

This wont help with making migrains stop but i take midrin for mine. I started getting them in 8th grade and then they started to happen about 8 to 10 times a month. But luckily as ive gotten older its gotten better. Midrin has been about the only thing that helps me when they hit as long as i take it when i get the blurry vision. So i carry it in my car all the time.

I would stop the narcotics immediately. I'm not a neurologist but they are terrible for headaches. Also cause rebound headaches after the dose wears off (as you are noticing). If you can't stop entirely, at least get a "drug holiday" worked out where your body doesn't take narcotics for a few days. I assume you've tried exedrin migraine or fioricet?

As was stated above, look hard at your diet and lifestyle. If you drink alcohol, stop. If you smoke, stop. If your diet isn't ideal, make it so. If you don't do cardiovascular exercise, start. If you don't get enough sleep, start.

You are too young to be affected by daily symptoms (meaning your life shouldn't have to be this way). Some people are paralyzed and they have to adjust their lives to function and be happy. You will likely need to do the same. But seriously do whatever you can to stop taking the narcotics. :twocents:

Of course this is just friendly advice, not medical advice. Especially to someone who would love to sue a doctor for being mean.

My wife keeps saying I should but I think it would be too hard to prove everything he said to me. If I could I have no doubt I would win.I have never had a doctor talk to me the easy that ******* did.

seriously? You guys are considering suing someone for a comment made? Are you talking med malpractice? What harm was caused by a comment? What damages would you expect? Indiana has a screening process that has to sign off on malpractice suits before they can be brought. Being a jerk isn't malpractice.

I know I need to get off the norco bUT without anything my migraines are horrible and last time I ended up in the hospital twice in one day and got toradol injections and that didn't even help. I have done the excedrine and had to take way to o much just to function and same with the fioricette.

I'm not considering it I know it would be a waste of time. My wife is hormonal and pregnant and was just mad when she said it and yes I'm mad about it but in all reality I know its pointless
