I've heard of the first gen P-mags doing this, but after the redesign, I thought this was fixed. Frankly, I'd get new mags before I took to buffing/sanding on my lower:dunno:

Old style mag on top, new one on bottom.

    Armalite and Olympic,

so in the holy grail of lowers the I have both ends of the spectrum.

Not really... Armalite lowers are nothing special.

IMO, a "holy grail" lower would be something like a Magpul lower (of which only a handful were made), a KAC SR-15E3 ambi lower, or a LaRue billet lower (which you have to buy one of their Stealth uppers to be eligible to purchase).

I seen some guy on YouTube that had the same problem.. he broke out the sandpaper and Dremel.

I'm glad I do not have that issue with either the old or new PMags.

He did say that he didn't have that issue with the newer PMags, if that helps any.

What version of the Pmag are you using? The old or the new with the ability to put the dust cover on the bottom of the mag?

Its the older pmags the one on the net for $9, but I wasn't really keen on them in the first place and this pretty much seals the deal for me, I'll mod these and use them but its back to metal mags for me, I've learned my lesson, I drank the pmag coolaid and just like the first crew that drank the coolaid I won't be around to drink it again.

There is a difference in width in the old versus the new. As someone posted earlier the new model Pmags are now "skinnier" the old ones.

My PMags aren't drop free in my Olympic Arms M4 either, but they work fine in my Mega billet lower. I think OA makes their mag wells a little tighter than others.

Magpul has state time after time that the PMags were designed to drop free from a "milspec" Colt M16 dimensioned lower receiver.

here is where to sand if they don't "fit"

    start here with these

    then here

insert the mags multiple times and look for "drag" marks, sand those areas.

Hey mvician gave me the starting block and I used his fine work to fix my problem,

the first mag took 20 minutes, the next 2 took 30 seconds, I ended up using a draw knife to shave a bit off the red colored area.

So I can modify my pmags a bit and they drop free now,
I grabbed another guys AR with an Essential Arms receiver and every mag worked without Mods, so guys Put Essential Arms up there with the Best Lowers on the market.

I borrowed this picture without asking so please forgive me

I had to sand all my 20 & 30 round older gen Pmags in those areas to get them to drop free from my LMT's. No problem from the RRA and I havent tried them in my S&W lower yet.

kedie showed me his LMT lower doing the same thing as the last Build Party. I was very surprised.
