Don't look for too much to be done about the "gang problem"....

Criminals and enforcers of the law are codependent.

America Doesn’t Have a Gun Problem, It Has a Gang Problem

This is what we need to point out to our elected officials. Leave the 100 million legal ordinary gun owners alone and lets go get the failed parents of these gang-bangers and throw them all into the same jail block. That ought to be interesting to see. If some of these juvenile delinquents actually had parental supervision or parents that gave a rat's ass about what their kids were doing, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Maybe its time to put the gangs on the "terrorists" list. For the life of me I can't understand why people insist on breeding and living in bad areas.....

And why do we have a gang problem? Primarily because of the "War on Drugs."

We cannot seem to learn from history. Last time we saw this problem was during prohibition. Same smuggling, violent turf wars, police raids, etc. The war on drugs has simply gone on longer than prohibition, so it has become more systemic.

Make something the masses crave illegal, and someone will find away to get it to them... and someone else will see that $ and want a piece of the action.

Prohibition was repealed, and no one kills each other over alcohol's distribution any longer. Related crimes, like drinking and driving, have been reduced through social means (eg MADD campaigns) and could be reduced further w/ stronger enforcement/penalties.

I think it should be added there is also a mental health problem in this country. There are not enough providers and care for people who need it.

    I like this statement:
"To achieve Chicago’s murder rate, African countries usually have to experience a bloody genocidal civil war or decades of tyranny."

It's a parenting issue or lack thereof that attracts gang membership. Hurt people, hurt people. Plain and simple.

I wouldn't be opposed for say national guard members or even active military members being used to clean up the streets of gang warfare. It would be a better use of money than fighting international drug wars or the war of terror or in the graveyard of nations.
