    Something I've always wondered about, why is the muzzle brake on the AKM screwed on the way it is with the securing pin hole holding it seemingly cock-eyed? (if that makes sense)

    As Airwolf said, in full auto fire the muzzle climbs up and to the right. The slant brake is designed to counter that movement. Unfortunately with our ATF approved semi-autos, we don't feel the affects of the slant brake.

    They're also counting on right handed use; the torque generated by recoil goes up and to the right if you're firing right handed.
