Alright so I am looking to possibly order a firearm from a dealer out of state and obviously I need it shipped to a FFL, i know of one in Sheridan that will do it for 25 bucks and figured that was a good deal.
Only problem is that I'm 19, so what exactly can/cant i do.
I assume i have to have someone 21 pick it up and sign for it with me.
But can i make the purchase over the phone with a credit card?
I wasn't sure if i could buy it....just not pick it up?
Why can i carry, just not buy. So dumb.

You can not legally purchase a handgun from an FFL until you are 21. Period. Your only option is a face to face private sale.

Someone over 21 could theoretically purchase and transfer the gun to themselves, and then sell it to you. However, that is a straw-sale and is also illegal.

There are other threads about Gifting a handgun and straw-sales.

I dont know for sure, but I think a parent can buy a firearm and gift it to their kid.

Give the forum a search. Also check the ATF website you might find some info.

If any dealer is aware of this situation, they cannot legally sell you this firearm at this point as it's considered a straw sale.

You must be 21 years of age to purchase a handgun or handgun ammunition.

You are playing with fire here. You really can't justify the potential problems you might trigger with this transaction. Do some reading and keep things clean. There are plenty of other options available.

    IC 35-47-2.5-15
Ineligible purchaser attempting to purchase handgun; violation
Sec. 15. (a) A person who is ineligible to purchase or otherwise receive or possess a handgun in Indiana who knowingly or intentionally solicits, employs, or assists any person in violating section 14 of this chapter commits a Class D felony.
    (b) If the violation involves a transfer of more than one (1) handgun, the offense is a Class C felony.

Yeah Thanks guys ill be careful I really didn't know it was that tricky. We have weird laws....I can buy in a F2F just not from one who actually has a license to sell firearms.

    We have weird laws....

Can't entirely disagree. That is true of many laws at many levels of government. Sounds like you are taking the better road in this case. When you really disagree with a law, the best route is to work to get it overturned/amended. You can read multiple threads on this board about peoples efforts along those lines now.
