advice on my build

I've decided that I want a piston are and I want cheap. Or at least cheaper then 1400 dollars I have decided on Adams upper but don't know what lower. I was curious this anyone has experience with these I would like to have a lower that is clear coated as similarly to the Adams as possible. The Adams arms I believe is melonite coded

Yeah no kiddin....every direct impingement AR that I have ever shot never had a problem with the original gas system. Mine still goes bang and cycles correctly every time.

Never heard of them. What is melonite coated?

I built mine from a PSA complete upper into the Adams Arm piston for $1000 and some change including all the goodies you see on it. If you are looking for a special coating though I have no idea.

I have been shooting the platform since 1969, both full auto and simi, thousands of rounds, and have never seen the need for changing the gas system.

Melonite is not a coating, It's Heat treating. Look up Nitriding, thats the old word for it. It's a surface hardening treatment.
