My fault I should have explained this better. If you only had $350 to outfit your ar with all of the the items in the OP what would you (or have you) picked.

    red dot - Vortex
    Bipod - UTG
    Light - Fenix
    light mnt - scope ring
    Sling -
    VG - Tango Down short

Do you have a rear iron sight ?

I'd skip buying the cheaper "stuff" just to "outfit" your AR.
Nothing worse than seeing a decent rifle look like it has been drug through an airsoft table at a gunshow.

    For pictured rifle, my preferences:

    1) rear iron sight (troy) approx $100
    2) sling (blue force gear Vickers padded) approx $50
    3) magazines (Pmag, rev M on sale) 5 @ $12 appox $60
STOP. Buy ammo and practice. 500 rds steel case ($100), targets and range fees ($30) approx $130

    Total = $340

    Save your pennies....and then.....

    4) red dot optic for your budget (bushnell micro to aimpoint micro to keep it light), riser will be required for co-wit. approx $120 to $350

    STOP. Repeat practice.

I'd skip the light and mount and VFG for the short term. You won't want the vfg when sighting it in at a range anyway (it'll give you hell on bags vs. a clean carbine handguard for a rest), and consider what you'd really use the light for before dressing up your rails and weighing down your rifle.

    YMMV

I went with the stand alone RRA Rear iron (not RRA Dominator).

Vlad - Thats what my common sense was telling me but I got all excited :rockwoot:

What Steel case ammo do you recommend?

I figured you may have had the "pick your sight" deal with that rig.

My RRA carbine eats brown bear 62 gr all day without issue. I have a chromed barrel/chamber. The Brown Bear shoots cleaner than Tula and you can get it for around $100 for 500 rounds. I just bought another 1000 from Military Shooters (AIM Surplus is out currently) for $96/500 and with a $150 purchase they had a $15 coupon that pretty much covered the shipping.

Can't say what will be best in your rifle. Try out some 55 vs 62 gr and some different names. Buy what's cheap and works for you.

Just my opinion. I would buy ammo first and get it zeroed using iron sights. If your optic fails, you better be able to use your iron sights.
