I like to give a big thanks to everybody that came out. I think we had a total of eight new Kydex holster makers :-) My day started out on the bad side about 7 o'clock this morning I woke up with a pounding headache. I laid in bed till eight and finally got my lazy butt out of bed so I can finish getting everything together for the Kydex class in the garage. I set everything up to find out that my drill press had shorted out. It took me an hour to get it rewired and back working again.

I had two concern for the workshop. One was power issues trying to run three toaster ovens and three heat guns a drill press and two bench grinders. I thought for sure we would be blowing breakers every time but it ended up working out quite nicely

My second concern was weather. It was an absolutely beautiful day. The big garage door was open the whole time. I was really worried about 10 people in my little garage with the torpedo heater going on to keep us warm. Could have not ask for better weather. Hard to believe it was December 2 and 62° outside

Overall I think the workshop ran pretty smoothly. My other worry was that we're going to have bottlenecks when it came to the toaster oven and presses. I think we really only had a couple times that we had to wait a few minutes for someone to finish up with the press.

I like to thank Bushscrubber for coming all the way up from Indianapolis that was pretty cool. It would've been nice to have a few more Indy boys too come up with you but maybe next time or better yet host a kydex class down there and you maybe be able to convince me to come down there and help you out.

I like to say thank you to grovatron for bailing me out on my Kydex order mishap. His kydex was a big hit. sold quite a bit of that stuff. Also like to thank turnandshoot4 for let me borrow his toaster oven heat gun and press that was a big help to and thanks geronimojoe for bringing his toaster oven too.

Please remember these Northwest Indiana continuing education classes are all about paying it forward learn it and teach it. If anybody wants to host one of these Kydex workshops please do not hesitate to send me a PM I'd be happy to help you out.

I will be adding pics soon. I have over 150 to go threw.

Nice to meet up with some of the guys (and gal) today at the workshop. Had a great time and learned quite a bit. :ingo:

Thanks to Jay/lonehoosier for putting the workshop together and getting the supplies.:+1:

I gave him the pics that were taken so look forward to seeing what great creations these guys did.:rockwoot:

For those interested in making their own Kydex holster, mag holder, knife holder or whatever, if lonehoosier does this workshop again I encourage you to attend. Good Time!!

Was going to go with you Jake but dad said no.

It was a long day. I woke up at 12:00 am, worked on the TB for scanner antenna, left at 3:30 am this morning got up there and hit some rail action, then went to the workshop. Just got back in. Great time but really long day, and the traffic coming home didn't help. LOl

And don't worry. With what Jay taught us I am confident I could explain it to those interested in a downstate workshop. It was heavily suggested. LOL

Last night me, dad, Noah, and Ed went to the parking garage by Union Station to watch some rail action. We saw railroad police checking on some intermodal flatcars for what I assume people who hopped on somewhere. Sometime during their hunt they noticed us, turned on the searchlights on their SUVs and shined them at us. We all waved. :):

    I had fun.

    I really need a CZ.

Built two great holsters with plans to do more. If I can get my stuff squared away we can have a kydex class, AR build class, maybe some basic emergency medical classes, or whatever, at my place. I have to get my basement cleaned out at the least, maybe re-wired
But I'd be glad to host something down the road.

My wife loved the fact that I attended a "crafting party" for guys.

She also loved the pink & purple holster I made for one of Melen's pistols. That holster will be a Christmas present for Melen so ... for those of you who may see her between now and the night that Santa slips down the chimney please keep your mouths shut!

I made 3 holsters today. The purple/pink one for Melen, which came out great. A simple brown pancake for my Detonics 1911 MTX "nemesis" prototype, flubbed a bit on the cosmetics, but its functional. And, with the help of Jay, a holster for a 45acp S&W N frame revolver. It was the first one he had tried so he made a mock up holster out of thin kydex, then I used that as the model for finished holster. It came out great.

Got to say I'm glad to be living up in the NW INGO area. Seems like NW INGO is the most active area for get togethers, training, meet + shoots, open-carry/cigar nights, etc.

Thanks again to Jay/Lonehoosier for putting on this event. I learned it was pretty easy to make these holsters that look just like the expensive store-bought models, saw some old friends, met a few new ones. Even got to play with his dog! GREAT JOB!!!

I had a great time at this workshop this afternoon.... Jay is a very good host and I appreciate him opening his house to me and my fiance to show us how to make our very own kydex holsters and I look forward to sharing this skill with some of my range buddies in the near future!

Not exactly sure if I can match all the guys I met to their INGO screen names, but it was a pleasure to meet up with everyone who came.

It was a good time had by all and I highly recommend this or similar workshops on holster making. The process was very easy to learn and provides a great way to save money in the future.

Had a great time doing the kydex workshop but I don't think I will do it again the same day that I go back to midnight. I'm finally off to bed. I hope to get pictures up this afternoon.

Sorry I missed this. Being a newbie I didn't stumble on the announcement until it was too late to work it in. I hope to make it to the next one.
