I'm looking at possibly a ... Glock..., sig and what other models? I know that the glock has very good case support in the .357 model and the Sig p229 was built around the .40/.357, correct? What other guns were built around the .40/.357 cartridge?

Also, I have a lot of winchester ranger .45 acp and practice .45 acp. So, I'm looking for a nice .45 that isn't a 1911 frame. I love the 1911, but I'm looking for good capacity also.

I want a full size gun. I carry a beretta m9a1 and I love it. I'm just looking for something a little different to play with.

    If your looking at Glock's there's the G30 and G36 in .45.
I just got back from Bullseye in Kokomo and shot 150 rounds out of my G36 and wish I had taken more rounds.

I'm a big fan of the large frame Glocks. Can't beat 13+1 of 45 caliber goodness on tap. I wish I never sold my 21 :( (but I have a G20 in it's stead, 15+1 of full power 10mm goodness :D)

Another +1 for the XD45. High Cap 45 that I use for a house gun. It is a little larger that I care to carry.

I find that is a very accurate piece and I have fed it everything including Wolf and Ultrmax reloads without a FTF.

Why bother with 357SIG? Just go to 10mm. It will drive a 180 gr as fast as the SIG will send a 147.
For a non 1911 45 ACP, I like the CZ97B. yeah, it's big and heavy but build like a tank, fully supported chamber, double action or cocked/locked, 10 round mags and points naturally like a CZ75. Many on the CZ forum are installing heavier recoil springs and running 45 SUPER.

For me if not on a 1911 frame (which it should be :D), then I would go either the Glock 30 or a XD .45 compact with the 4" barrel. The XD compact comes with a 10 rd mag if you want to carry concealed and with a 13 rd mag if you want a longer grip. And you can do the same thing with the G30 (using the G21 mag and getting some sleeves to extend the grip on the mag). Best of both worlds.

The Sig p229 would be my choice for the .357 sig round.

Is there really an ultra-reliable weapon in .45. Glock guys, I must say, I've seen a lot of kb stories with glock .45s. 1911s can be finicky. I mean, there are proven platforms with the 9mm, .40, and .357, but the .45 (since the pretty much death of the loose-tolerance, GI version 1911) seems to be without. There are some good hk .45s, I guess.

Glock 21s don't really KB. The 40's yes, not so much the 45s. 45 is a pretty low pressure round.
If you're that worried about it, get a KKM/Barsto/Lone wolf Barrel with full case support. When I had my 21, I used a KKM and fed it a healthy diet of VERY hot handloads.

and 1911s can be ultra reliable. The design itself as John Moses Browning planned it IS very reliable. 2 World Wars and a dozens of smaller conflicts reliable. They're going back to it in some units. :patriot:

1911s get a bad name because people buy a POS Llama, shove a dented magazine in it, and then talk about how bad 1911s (not llamas) are. Or they take some weird franken-gun with mismatched parts, or they get some silly-tight bullseye gun and wonder why it won't run without lube, etc. They whine all over the internet "My 1911 is unreliable!" - no, you're just a moron. :):

1911s as a design are reliable. Most malfunctions come as a result of a loose nut behind the trigger. :n00b:

Haha, very true. The pic of the GI 1911 is what I'm talking about. Good 'ole .45. :) Most brands just seem finicky and very dependent on proper oiling and such. I'm guessing a springfield or std. 1911 colt would do the trick?
