Other than the obvious...barrel and mags.....what are the differences on a 1911 9 VS 45?
I'd like to put a Kimber 22 conversion on one but am having issues finding what I want in a 45 cal.
So bottom line, would a 1911 in 9 work with a Kimber 22 conversion slide, barrel, mag?
Good question. What I am finding (and have found in the past from my 1911 friends) is that like everything, it depends on which kit, and which 1911? In some kits, the .22 conversions will work fine on either 9mm or 45 1911's no problem, as long as they are full-size government, mil-spec size frames. On others its a no go. However, I do hear better results with Kimber and Advantage Arms, for example, over kits from some other makers. I wish it gave you a more definitive answer, but it is kind of a hit and miss it seems. It CAN work, but wont ALWAYS work.
I use an Advantage Arms target conversion on my 9mm STI Trojan frame with zero problems. It is incredibly accurate with CCI standard velocity ammunition. The design of the Advantage Arms conversion target model makes it inherently more accurate than the Kimber.
