I'm just about out of 180gr bullets and Hornady has them on the suspended list, so I'm gonna have to find a load for the 200gr hornadys. What powders are you guys using for the 200s and how many grains? There's only a few listed on the chart I have from AJ, and the only one I could find was Accurate 2015. My tightest groups with that was around 1.5" at 100yds. It's really aggrevating because my 180 loads are shooting under an inch at 100 and just under 2.5" at 200. Can anyone help me out with some different data?

For what it's worth, my barrel is 22".

this is the only data I have.

I have been using 35 gr of IMR 4198 and was getting shots to lay on top of each other with the Hornady 200 gr SP interlock. I stepped it up to 36.5 gr of IMR 4198 and I am getting 2460 to 2512 FPS. The group are just under an inch. The powder I started with was IMR 4895 and the best I could get with a compressed load ( 1/3 the way up the neck ) was 2200 FPS. So I went with IMR 4198. It has worked out well. I wanted to run a 200 yard point blank range with a 6" kill zone. 2450 FPS was the magic number and the P.B.R. is 235 yards with a 200 yard zero.

We are talking the 358 Hoosier. You can use the loading data from a 358 Winchester if you start with the starter load. That will be a mid load for the 358 Hoosier. DO NOT USE a max load, I repeat DO NOT USE a max load from the 358 Winchester loadings.

Thanks vette, I've got enough to get me through the season, plus a few more, but I don't have enough to do any other shooting. I've been kinda wanting to step up to 200s anyways and have a little more penetration incase I hit a bone. Thanks for the offer though.

Seconds on the Hornady 180's vette if you still want to let them go. I have been looking for some of those to try in my 358 Hoosier.

I changed rifles this year and my new toy doesn't like the 180's. I have about 75 180gr Hornady spire points, and about 250 180gr Speer flat points that I don't need. Anyone interested PM me. I'm located near Huntington. Mike Trible
