    Hey guys!

Just noticed that Ammuntion to Go has PPU 9mm 158gr subsonic FMJ in stock.
    Ammunition To Go : 50rds - 9mm Prvi Partizan 158gr. Sub-Sonic FMJ Ammo [pp-r9.1] - $16.95

Wondering if anybody has used the stuff, and if it would provide any benefit over the more common (and cheaper) 147gr FMJ when running it through a suppressor? I imagine that a heavier bullet moving slower would remain subsonic out of a longer barrel, but my longest 9mm barrel is only 9" and seems to be plenty quiet with regular ol' 147gr.

    Thoughts?

As you get into odd/extreme bullet weights, be absolutely sure the bullet is stable as it's leaving the barrel. Baffle strikes = bad. Consider your barrel's twist rate.

I tried the Fiocchi 158gr, I am confident I had a very light end cap strike, more like a rub than a strike, but contact nonetheless.

I plan on sticking to the 147gr pills.

I've shot some of the 158 out of suppressed rifles and a Post86 MP5 with and without a can. It makes more of a difference in the SMG, as some of the 147 gr loads are close to the sound barrier coming out of the longer barrel. (And sometimes over it.) The 158's are slower, and won't go supersonic.

if you are running the 147's fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

What type of gun and suppressor were you using when you had the strike?

I have shot the Fiocchi 158gr out of a Sig 228 and a H&K USP with no baffle strikes. They were way quieter than most of the 147gr factory loads I have shot.

Gun was a 9mm AR SBR using a SWR Trident 9 suppressor, barrel is a TROS 5" 3-lug barrel. IIRC, the twist rate on the TROS barrel is 1:10.

Do you think the strike was due to the short barrel not enough to stablize the bullet?
