Just recently finished this build up. The customer (Churchmouse) wanted something a little different than what was in the stores and this is what he settled on. This is not what was going to be built originally but as the project evolved so did the gun.
The slide and barrel in the background was the original 5" game plan but we switched to a 6"
5" to be built up some day when I have time.
Build based on STI long 6" full dust cover frame, Caspian 6" slide 6" Infinity match grade hybrid barrel. Phoenix Trinity Stainless grip and Trijicon RMR sight
Unfortunately I did not take many in depth pics of this project
Some barrel fitting to do
Once the barrel frame and slide where fit I added a Stainless Steel grip and extended magwell and you can start getting the idea
The biggest challange to the whole project was creating an acceptable RMR mount. The 1911 slides are not wide enough to mount directly so I had to come up with somthing that would function and look good at the same time.
Another INGO member and a machinist buddy of mine helped out with some CAD drawings
A slide recess was cut and experimenting began
1st design to be later rejected
Finally seyyled on this one
With that out of the way next was Barrel day
11 degree crown and flush cut
I put some holes here
Then time to start blending parts
Custom mix of Burnt bronze and Graphite black color added and ready to assemble.
Through out we were debating what type of slide serrations to do but as it progressed it looked just right with out them....for now. Made me feel lazy but I'll get over it
Finish product
Double tapping Sig Sauer 180 10mm
Double tap target
Just shooting
