      Yesterday my friend helped with the rifle, and he got the bit tip and set screw drilled out. I don't know what kind of drill bit he used. First two wouldn't make a mark on it, last one bit in good. Could not get the screw extractor to seat deep enough because the barrel was still in place...

      Just passed on one of those in the local supplier's place. Used, almost new. $519 + tax. But I did order a Bergara BMR in 17hmr. It was on sale, out the door price was $550. Pick it up Monday or Tuesday is the guess.

      Browning T-bolt is coming up tops, but my local suppliers can't find any. The Bergara BMR is looking good, too. Just haven't asked about availability yet. And the Tikka T1x Hunter with the wood stock is very nice.

      Since the 17wsm has let me down, I want to get another 17 caliber rifle. The two I have kinda/sorta gotten down to are the Ruger Precision Rimfire, or the Browning T-Bolt Target.       OK, I pulled the power cord. Smoked a cigarette for a timer, then plugged it back in. Clock still had correct time, cycled thru the program, no other visible changes. Pressed the recharge button. Yikes! Oh, it is cycling now. Dadblasted mystery electronical devices.

      Power appears to be fine. LCD display lights up, clock is correct time, push the button and the tank light comes on. Stepped thru the programing just to make sure nothing got scrambled. I am capable of checking the input power.

      In the 20 years in this house: 3 water heaters 2 ranges 4 washer/dryer combos (one fails, so replaced set) 3 refrigerators 1 main breaker panel (that was not fun!) 1 dishwasher 2 kitchen sinks (kids, I tell ya!)       I took the salt out of the brine tank, no salt bridge. Put the salt back in. Cycled the bypass valve a few times. Crap and tarnation, water flows freely again. I dunno. Did check the toilet tanks, no sign of resin beads in any of the three. See if it happens again. Probably just get a...
