Taking out a 401k loan to pay down debt

Agreed. Dave's target audience are people who are in debt, who don't understand their finances, and who need beginner-level help. I might think that someone who is considering a 401k loan to consolidate/move their debt needs his kind of beginner's help. Even if OP's "friend" doesn't want to...

Mags for SKS 10rd fixed or detachable

Nothing wrong with the fixed 10 round mag. It's what the weapon was made to use. Practice and become proficient with using stripper clips.

      "Factory Refurbished" Glock 34

Where can one purchase one of these unfortunate firearms that have been through a factory refurbishing process?

      Rounds for a G19?

Not sure what CAC is an acronym for, but in Indiana, we have a License to Carry a Handgun, or LTCH. Which does not specify how the handgun is carried (concealed or not). I've never had any cheap 9mm ammo have an issue in a G19, G17, or G26. For defense, there are plenty of high-quality...

Do you top off your magazine?

Nah, 33 rounds ought to get the job done.

Looking to Buy my first Pistol!!!

I don't think that getting a .22 to "get the feel of shooting" and move on to something else is really the point in the recommendation. The point is to shoot the darn thing, regularly and often. A .22 is the most affordable way to get in some trigger time. This is your first hand gun you're...

Rules/Methods for buying a gun from individual?

^^ agreed. Hammer out the details (pending inspection) before you meet up. No one wants a surprise, and no one wants their time wasted. I've only ever had one instance where the item wasn't as depicted, and that was the only time I ever had an uneasy feeling about a fellow. Most people are...

Rules/Methods for buying a gun from individual?

Having your friend stand by with a video camera/smart phone/device and recording sounds kind of creepy. You should make it known up front that the transaction will be video recorded. I don't think that most normal people don't want to end up on the internet. If you really feel you need that...

Take a blind guy to the range?

Just load blanks into the guns. He'll never know the difference. :dunno:

      Can I reload this?

^^ Same here. Never had a problem with Tulammo or any other inexpensive ammo in my Glocks. Aluminum, brass, or steel, it doesn't seem to matter.

      Can I reload this?

Search the interweb, and you can find plenty of resources on people who successfully and regularly reload steel casings.

DHS Target Supplier Includes Pregnant Women & Old Men For Target Practic Read m

I like the granny in the kitchen target. I imagine this scenario: You and your elite team of trained operatives kick in the door at 3am at granny's house. Granny was making a late night snack in the kitchen when she heard a gang break into her house and she grabbed her gun to protect herself...

Hmm well then apparently silencers are bad.

Because only the super wealthy deserve to be able to own suppressors. The rest of us poor folk are apparently the "wrong kind" of people to own these devices.

      Possible Glock upgrades

You really can't buy any upgrades that will make you a better shooter, and any quality off-the-shelf pistol really doesn't need any upgrades to perform well. Use your time and money to get ammo, range time, training, and maybe night sights, if you like that sort of thing.

Taking the DHS' suggestions to defend with scissors to heart

I was at the cutting range recently, and was admonished by the range officer for cutting more than one snip per second.

deactivate my account due to current job

James, imagine that the internet is a huge repository of anything anyone has every written, said, taken an image or video of, and all of that crap will never go away. Privacy is... well, there isn't much privacy anymore, and most information we willingly give away.
