Horizontals are finished and setting up for the vertical cuts. Got derailed due to that brand new (and expensive) collet chuck and collet had an insane amount of run-out....
I apologize! So much going on right now that I have been a bit behind on some photos!
On to checkering the frame. The front strap was cleaned up with a ball end mill and high-cut for a higher grip on the pistol. The checkering will be 20-lpi, which is great for a USPSA 1911, which this will...
Sorry for the delay! New to me lathe came in with a DRO that needed installed and some other non-1911 work has been going on. Should be back on the 1911 soon.
My kingdom for a surface grinder.... spent quite a bit of time at the granite plate making sure all of the slide's surfaces were flat. It would surprise some of you what media blasting the parts will hide after the manufacturer machines them. I stopped once the surfaces were straight and flat. I...
Churchmouse, that is an awesome looking racegun! Can you re-post it with a larger picture? Lots of detail there that I would like to see close-up!
Also, you are correct about the Range Officer series. I have seen quite a few lately and they have been a good platform for sure!

Got some time to get back to this slide. I wanted to get some other mill work done with the head in tram before adjusting the angle to match the rear cocking serrations. The customer requested mill work is complete and it is off to be finished.
Thank you!

I have installed a few of these lately. It is a "gas pedal" from GoGuns. Not something to put on your favorite EDC, but great for competition pistols. Helps to leverage against the muzzle climb and keep the pistol running flat. I have to admit, I love drilling and tapping with good drills and...
Thank you llh1956 and Kurr. Kurr - the tri-top is popular with competition pistols more so than defensive pistols. It allows for material (and therefore weight) to be removed from the slide and not violate any rules, such as the USPSA Single Stack division rules where holes cannot be machined...
Thank you Aaron for the kind words! You are correct, I took about a .002 climb mill pass at the end to clean up the surface. The fixture I have tweaked a bit, but it is made by Yavapai and can be purchased through Brownells BROWNELLS YAVAPAI 1911 SLIDE JIG | Brownells
