      Your most useful gunsmith tool

In all seriousness, aside from "real" tools, I cannot work without a chop stick close by. I use them for SOOO many things - knocking out slide stop pin, removing firing pin stop, lapping/polishing, etc. I always nab a few extra at the Chinese restaurants....

      ENCORE PRO HUNTER FOREND SCREWS

I apologize, you have likely tried this, but have you contacted the business from which you purchased the forearm and asked if it could be swapped for the correct one?

Full auto to semi auto conversion?

What kind of gun is it? The reason I ask, similar to a response above, it could likely wreck the value. If it is a pre'86 and can be legally owned, I would either keep it intact or sell it and re-invest the money into something closer to what you might want. Andy

      I need a spacer made....

What would make it easier for guys like me (or maybe just me) is if you had a measured drawing and had a pretty good idea what you needed. Its the time involved in diagnosing what is needed that is hard to come by.

      New 1911 Full Build

Some before and after pics of softening up the lines on the EGW grip safeties. Maintained the lines, but made them look and feel a lot softer - if metal can be described as "softer"...

      New 1911 Full Build

Churchmouse, thank you! The reason I do it, aside from the fact that it does reduce friction, is that I have replaced mainspring caps with heavy gouges in them from struts with flat sides, or were too sharp on the end. The strut will eventually wear a heavy grove into the cap. Can it be felt...

Before and after on fire control parts. I apologize, the shinny surfaces cause havoc with my camera.

      New 1911 Full Build

I agree with Churchmouse, the RO is a good 1911 to build upon. The undercut could easily be done with files, it would just require some extra care and patience. If you have access to a mill, then give a few upgrades a try! New internals, fitting a new BTGS, contouring new thumb safeties - there...

      New 1911 Full Build

You've likely heard of the slide debacle that I am finally out from under, but if not, I ordered a bunch of slides from a company and get several hours of work into them before I realized they had major problems. The company was outstanding in their customer service and refunded my money. In...

Tri-topped slide has been machined for the adjustable Bomar-style rear sight made by Dawson Precision. For me, I like the look of this style sight better with the round top slides, but the tri-top shaves off a lot of weight.

Yikes!I have had some setbacks, but I think I am out of the weeds. I went through several slides from a company that I will not name because they treated me very well in correcting the problem. Nonetheless, I did a LOT of work on three slides for this gun until I found one that was hardened...

      Cylinder and Slide SFS Kit

Also reminds me of the weird trigger Daewoo (yes, Daewoo...) had in the pistols they made in the early '90s. It was a double/single action and you could cock the hammer back manually and then lower it with the lever - which I thinks was the thumb safety if I recall... The double action part of...
