So I just had a local guy make a Kydex neck break for my UT-X85 and he made 2 to experiment with fit and finish.
I'm super happy with the way they came out. As you can see it holds on via the trigger and covers it and the opening of the pocket clip so it wont snag anything and get pulled...
So the last of the new hardware came in today so i mocked up what I have going on to observe the fit/finish and mechanics of it. Its actually really solid, and silky smooth. This may be my new MTB knife. Ive also cleaned up all the machine work on the scales and am goint to give them a coating...
well... I bought it used so the only thing im supporting is knifekits.com and potentially a buddy of mine with a machine shop which would also lead to supporting my local brewery, and I'm OK with that. The blade itself is hard, much harder than say a 440C or even AUS-8, I can tell by how it...
It was only half shown in the sale pic and had the butterfly, for $4 I HAD to buy it. Really the only reason im doing anything but throwing it away is just for the fun of building something, fine tuning with some different quality parts. Ive been looking into making my own knife so im taking it...
yeah, I took it apart and its clearly a fake. Its got a garbage pivot, garbage washers, the scales arent finished very well and theres lots of sloppy machining on the inside. The blade however isnt terrible, and its coating is actually pretty durable concidering the kind of wear present...
Im looking to add a good dual action auto to my collection and EDC. I really like the microtech troddon and would prefer the drop point blade in a satin finish but may be interested in other OTF dual action autos. Let me know what you have and what your looking to get out of it.
Thanks
I still carry and love my Mantis Vuja De FYI. Its now part of a rotation with a couple of benchmades, but going on 4/5 years of use and abuse and its still one of my favorite knives.
More Pictures
The fact that it actually says "special forces on it" makes me question it authenticity, but I have seen others like the Infadel that do.
The axis lock is hollow and a 3 piece and has a higher profile than my other benchmades but is really really smooth
Its definately a...
So, I bought a Benchmade Presidio 5000BKS Auto off a facebook post for knives for $4. At first I was pretty sure it was a knock off but the blade has me thinking it might be the real thing.
Overall the knife is not in the best shape, Its clearly seen some use, but having said that. The coating...
Good to know, Its back in the original ruger box for now.
Im leaning towards this Otis cleaning kit on amazon

LOL, hopefully its not going to be that bad, I still need to put together a cleaning kit and get some some ammo. Im hoping to be in the range some time this week.
speaking of cleaning, what kind of kits are preferred for pistols? what kind of oils?
I actually already ordered a galloway steel guide rod, and have been looking at trijicon night sites along with a crimson trace laser. Being that they are pretty pricey, either will likely come much later.
I rigged up an old Pelican case to serve as my gun box. I can fit the pistol, loader, mag...
Ive spent the morning watching the series and then comparing the round I'm interested in to ballistic reports on bigger pistols, Its pretty easy to find vids out there that use the Glock 19.
I am pretty impressed with the Federal HST, and Underwood. Im glad to see the cheaper plinking ammo runs...
So talk to me about ammo... what to look for, what to avoid, what works well with this gun.
Ive been looking at underwood ammo and will likely be getting a few boxes, but would also like something on the cheaper side for plinking around.
I will also be searching the interwebs and forum.
I picked one up by the way...
Brand new, pretty much direct from Ruger, I was the first non Ruger employee to handle it. I picked up an extra 10rd mag, will get a double pack of the 17s here soon.
I really wanted to go black on black but apparently those are sold out and new ones are going to...
keep in mind I know only what I've been reading... but...
It actually sounds like your guide rod is flexing when you fire. The stock rod is a plastic rod. Check the sides of the springs for signs of wear if thats the case get one of the galloway steel guide rods, 14lbs if you shoot light, 16lbs...
yeah i would still run carpet, at least like directly on the floor, but it would be nice to have the extra protection against water.
I run like this most of the summer, if I know a storm is going to be intense I will throw on the full doors.
Its dryer than you would think, even through...
