I'm not sure what type of paint was included in the rattle can, but I bought an entire kit from MyDipkit.com which ran about $65. It included everything needed from start to finish. Primer, base coat, semi gloss, finish, etc.
I've read that automotive etch primer works well as a good base coat...
I cant speak for Rebel's build quality because I have nothing to compare it to, but I'd stay away from Rebel just because of the customer service. They claim to care about their customers, but you will literally spend weeks trying to get a hold of someone if you have a problem orquestion. The...
Lodge Lodge Lodge all the way. We used Lodge everything to cook with when I was in Boy Scouts, and I'm almost positive they were the same pans and dutch ovens my dad used when he was a Boy Scout. To my knowledge they are still used today.
Here are the results so far. It still needs a bit of touch up, but for my first attempt I am happy with the result. I was able to get it to work by using the absolute minimum amount of activator possible. I also elevated the water temp to 85- 90 degrees when dipping, which seemed to help as well.

Thanks for the reply.
Do you think there are any new firearms on the market today that will be worth triple or quadruple the initial cost in 20 - 30 years?
Could you provide some examples? I can think of only 1 firearm I have in my possession that is worth more than I paid for it, and only because its over 100 years old.
Not trying to call you out on anything, but interested to hear what you purchased and have recouped your money on.
I want to hydro dip my S&W 15-22 but have no experience with this type of painting. Does anyone have an tips or suggestions? I plan to practice on some cheap items before i do the actual rifle, but thought i would ask for some suggestions here before I started down this path.
