I'm gonna quit harping you jedi, after this...

I think this is priced a bit high, but might be worth a watch to see if that changes? Comes with a couple holsters, one is optic cut, the other might be user adaptable? If the gent's G45 MOS package doesn't sell for a while, then maybe the seller might be willing to separate the gun from the holsters? (G19 sized holsters are the most popular size on the planet, for selling and buying. )

    Just sayin'...

    :@ya:
But but that is not a g34 length slide. :p

I am glad to see some commentary on the rear sight slot difference on Glock MOS versions! Couldn't help but notice my Ameriglo rear sight protrudes from the rear of the slide by that 1/8" on my G19 MOS. Certainly can see how that 1/8 setback for the optic makes a huge difference in clearance for ejected cases. Especially with some of the really tall, large window optics.

I was contemplating picking up a backup G45 earlier this year that had been milled for the optic. Happy I didn't end up doing it. Certainly don't need a problem waiting to happen.

    :yesway:
Why going to a national level class or 2 a year is well worth it. You pick up a ton of knowledge from not only the instructors (relevant ones) but as well as some solid fellow professional students and the networking you have is great.

Well worth the price of admission

DO NOT have a non MOS Slide milled with Glocks the issue is you will set up your gun for a malfunction in the ejected case WILL AT SOME Point bounce off the optic and catch in the ejection port and hold it open. Sort of like a stovepipe but flush and often backwards.

Spaulding covered that in his classroom portion and sure as s&$t it happened several times that day with the non MOS milled Glocks I also saw it several times and when asked it was always the Glocks that had aftermarket milling. The issue is about 1/8” rear sights on Glock MOS versions are 1/8” back Glock like them ir not sort of know what they are doing and I am sure ran into the same issue why they moved the sight slot back slightly.

For those that think they are the exception….OK you will be OR haven’t went through a 500 round a day class yet!
Any details on the specific models that had this issue?

I have a Gen3 G20 that AllenM milled for a RMR (direct mounted with sealing plate) in early 2019 and have never experienced a failure since the milling. Several years ago, I ran that pistol through a 3-day class with over 1800 rounds. In the 5 years since this was milled, I've had zero failures in over 10K rounds. I'll assume Allen know what he's doing as well.

This is my only non-MOS Glock with a red dot, so my experience is very limited.

Thanks for the info, this is very interesting.

No specifics on particular model but I would presume any that are milled forward of the rear sight slot are the ones. If you had yours milled and removed the rear sight slit that would probably not cause the storage.

Also I am pretty sure it was all 9mm (maybe a 40) so if you have it on a Glock 20/21 slide being bigger not sure if that would be enough change to not cause it.

On my Gen3 G20 the rear sight slot is still intact. My guess is the length of the slide may have something to do with this. Maybe the direct mounting as well.

Again, this is interesting so next time you see this, details on the specific pistol would be great or maybe details from the instructor you mentioned. I'm sure a significant number of people would be interested in this data.

Is it because on the GLOCK you cant put the rear sights at the rear when you mill a slide. The milling of the rear sights can be done in front of the red dot as the red dot needs to be all the way in the back. At least per the milling service I've read online.

I’m not 100% sure but as I mentioned it could depend on where the company milled for it. And since I had a MOS I wasn’t concerned about getting that deep in the weeds. It makes since but I wasn’t interested in sending any of my non MOS guns in for aftermarket milling

I’m not a big Red Dot guy as I do not run them in my handguns the only Red Dot gun I have is a Glock 34 Gen 5. Amd I took Spaulding’s class simply because I teach the civilian sector now and needed to learn how they work as I was seeing them in classes. And Dave is a phenomenal instructor that knows his stuff!

Thats not 100% accurate. At the time I had my G20 milled I also had a G21 slide milled and it retained the OEM rear sight. My G20 had the rear sight left off because I had swapped the OEM sight for one that protruded forward of the slot.

I'm sure its related to the person doing the milling.

Yeah it seems to be a almost non-existed item. Even tried ebay and nothing.

I may be better off just buying another GLOCK in the MOS flavor but then I'll have no need for this current one.
Now you can post this in the what excuse you have to buy another gun thread. Win-Win!
