Good Afternoon all! I am going to purchase a pump style shotgun this weekend and I cannot make up my mind I would love some help. I am a firm believer in a shotgun for home defense, and I would like to buy a high capacity model from any manufacturer. So far I am torn between the 870 express tactical, the 500 & 590 special purpose series, and the winchester 1300 defender.

I would also like to purchase one of these models used, and then go from there. Any condition would do for me, as dura coat is not that expensive, and it gives a custom feel to the gun. If anyone can think of any other models out there that would be economical as well as durable and reliable feel free to throw in your recomendation. Thank you ahead of time to all of you that are willing to help

I purchased a 12 GA. Pardner Pump Protector from Bradis in Camby a year or so ago and it was a nice purchase. It looks just like an 870, has the same parts as an 870, but it sell for $185. I purchased a new tactical front grip and adjustable stock for it (all made for an 870) and it fit like a charm.

cant go wrong with an 870 you can buy a hunting version much cheaper than the tacktical, then just add the mag extension.

Buy a used 870 Express with 26" vent rib bbl. Send the barrel to Carlson's, cut it to 21", new Hi-Viz front sight, and re-threaded for extended tubes. Then add a Nordic +5 extension tube and clamp. Add a 3-Gun Gear or Mark Otto 8-shot side saddle. Shoot the crap out of it.

    Or

Buy a 21" Benelli Super Nova and add a Nordic +5 extension.
