They had this on the springfield armory instagram/facebook page. I really hope they produce a 10mm 1911 again. All in house this time, unlike the Omega.

    Found this online...
"SA advertised a custom shop 10mm in 2008. But since then it faded away. Maybe not enough demand? This was what they had on 2008 catalog.

I just love seeing 10mm making a comeback over the last few years, with Sig and now SA leading the charge.
I'm no Glock fan, but they still deserve recognition for keeping this caliber alive with their models 20 and 29.
Now, if only we could get S&W to bring back their third generation autos, especially the 1006, 1076, 1066, 1046, 1026, and 1086.

I'm with churchmouse on this one - even though I am a big fan of the 10mm cartridge. But I have no doubt they will be able sell that to some guys...... The only real problem with almost any 10mm pistol is.....handloaders who insist on pushing the envelope.

Before I had started this thread, I sent springfield a e-mail asking about the photo. It's a custom shop photo. Looks like I wont be affording one this year.

Wow...a Springfield 1911 10mm...wouldn't that be a fun pistol to shoot!

A 10mm's been on my horizon since our last hiking trip to the Smokey Mountain National Park...the Alaskan just got a bit too heavy on the waist this trip!

Back in the 90s Springfield offered a linkless 10mm (not the Omega Peters/Stahl guns - this was built on a standard 1911 frame with a cammed barrel like a High Power)) - for about 1 1/2 years - and then dropped it. (probably due to handloaders blowing them and sending them back) I never got to shoot one but it looked like a very nice gun when used with sensible loads. The 1911 was designed originally for a low pressure cartridge. It'll take abuse for a while. Then you'll start breaking stuff.

I like my 10mm 1911s, but my nuclear loads only go in my Glock which was built from the ground up to handle full house original NORMA loads.

    Right you are.
    Ditto with my S&W 1006.
Hard to beat having a gun originally conceived and designed to handle such a powerful round.
700+ foot pound loads are achievable with Norma level loads.

You just have to love 10mm out of the 1911 platform. I run my Delta Elite with middle of the road load levels. If I decide to push towards the higher end of the spec, I'll run them through either a Witness or Glock.

    This is the Delta Elite

Possibly stupid question, but does Springfield no longer manufacturer long slide 1911's? ALso seeing as how there is a seam along the front does this new 10mm have a fixed comp?
