The Smith & Wesson E-Series 1911 pistols have really caught my eye and I'm considering one for my first venture into the 1911 world.
I thought I would start a new thread instead of continuing to hijack the "expensive 1911" thread...
Anyway, the main pistol I'm considering is the $800 all stainless E-series. Seems like a great bang for the buck.

I also like the bobtailed version with the Scandium frame, but they are quite a bit more at $1200.
There's also the Performance Series version for around $1400
Looking for more thoughts and experienced opinions on the E-series and Scandium frame guns.
Was wondering what the felt recoil difference was between the Scandium frames and the steel frames.
I want the gun more as a range toy vs. a carry piece.
Might consider it for IDPA - CDP division.
