I have been using these for years now and have seen them do some pretty amazing stuff.
If you get by the shop sometime stop in Ill show you how it works.
It's a good idea to start with the least agressive methods and work your way up to what works.
1. Hoppes with a rag.
2. Flitz with a rag.
3. 0000 (FOUR ought) steel whole w/various solvents/oils/pressures.
4. Bad pitting requires more agressive methods.
Steel wool will likely mess your finish up if you over do it even slightly.
Me and the guys use this stuff in the shop all the time. Guys are always bringing in buggered up guns to trade. We use this stuff to clean them up and you would be amazed at the kind of rust we've pulled off guns with it and still had bluing underneath.
