I just want to confirm the rules on an Indiana resident taking a rifle to Michigan. I do not have any other type of permit other than my little IN pink piece of paper. I'm kicking myself for not getting the Utah permit right now, but that's besides the point. I will be in MI for a week and would like to at least have a rifle in the car. In the past I've taken guns to MI but it was always during hunting season for deer in a case with a lock on it. This time I just want to make sure I've got a rifle with me while away from the teddy12b compound.
Can I legally take a rifle into Michigan just for the sake of it? Does it need to be broken down at all? A trigger lock or anything else like that?
Ideally I'd like to take an AR with me, but if that's not a wise move I could always go with a 10-22 or a lever action hunting rifle because they're less suspicious. I don't plan on using it for anything, but I definately like the idea of having a rifle with me. I was considering even getting a small game hunting license so that I'd at least be able to say I was hoping for an oportunity to hunt whatever small game was in season while there.
Any suggestions?
