Do you pay your "fair share" (tax calculator inside)

While at my continuing education class today, the discussion leader brought a website to my attention that I thought I'd share with INGO. It really opens your eyes to the sheer amount of tax you pay annually. Anyway, it can be as detailed as you want, and opens your eyes to the taxes that are hidden that most do not think about.

Self employment tax is a killer for me.

It tells me I pay 28% but since I am paid commission I actually pay closer to 50% and get my other portion back at the end of the year.

It calculated about 29% for me.
Of course, the Fed.Gov sure steals the most.

I think it might be because LAKE COUNTY, IN does not have a county tax so we might not be paying our fair share. Or perhaps we are paying too much and ya (the rest of IN) is just trying to keep us down!

I've posted this before, I made $92k last year and paid 1.4% in federal income tax but 26% in all other taxes excluding sales tax.

Ah, the beauty of percentages.

Calculating tax liability against the gross, when taxes are applied to the net.

And just for argument's sake. I find it funny that only the Federal Government could calculate your net income, after the first round of taxes as, "Adjusted Gross Income."

They are some really good liars.
