Sadly with the return of the warm weather comes the return of muskrats. They're a pest to lake owners as their burrows damage the banks and dam. My dad, lovemywoods, posted a couple years ago about a time he came home to find me doing my part in keeping the muskrat population in check.

A couple days ago my brother, esrice, helped me zero my rifle and I was eager to test it. My rifle is a Colt 6920 with a Millet scope. Today, I got my chance. From our deck, I saw a 'scrat in the water, grabbed my rifle, and on its next pass across the lake I sent a bullet through its temple.
About an hour after tossing the muskrat's body in a ravine, I was back on the porch enjoying the last of the sunlight when I saw another muskrat! I couldn't believe it! Normally after the first shot muskrats disappear for the night. So I got my rifle out once more, and with one shot nicely dispatched the second muskrat. He now lies in a ravine next to his buddy.
