How bad is HWY 70?

How hard is it to take 70 to Terre Haute from Indy? I know it is under construction but is it a major delay?

I was hoping to make a half day trip to Riley this week.

Add some time to your trip if you take Hwy 40. I take 70 when I go to Riley and the right lane is no fun. East bound is worse than west bound, especially between Hwy 46 to just past 150 (Brazil exit).

70 West bound is down to one lane from Plainfield to at least exit 51. That's as far as I go so I don't know where it opens back up. HTH

it took me almost two hours to get from indy to Terre Haute friday, eastbound lanes seemed to be at a standstill at times. it seemed like every 10 miles it went from two lanes to one lane for about 5 miles. it was a huge fuster cluck!

For the scenic route, you could always take SR 42 to SR 59, then 59 south to SR 46 to Riley.

Not bad considering that to get there I have to take US 41 to Terre Haute first.

My sister lives out in Reelsville and is bringing 40 in when she comes to Indy.

At the time of the morning it was then I was lucky to be able to read the text, let alone notice anything else

Went out that way this weekend, and it was still slow in parts. If you go during non-rushours maybe ok. But forget it during the morning or afternoon. Try 70 till your past Plainfield, then jump off and do the senic route on 40.
