SNS Casting has/in the process of adding coated bullets to their line up. They are using the same material to coat them as Bayou Bullets and have gone with a gold color

    These are .40s&w 175gr .401 bullets

I am going to be loading these up and doing some comparison between Precision Bullets moly coat, Rainier plated, and Montana Gold fmj's.

The first thing I like about SNS casting bullets is the packing, best in the business at packing in shipping you bullets. But they are also very consistent when it comes to bullet weight. I calibrated the scale and weighed out five of each of the above bullets

Calibrated the scale. Weighed out 5 of each: rainier average 165.10 spread of .7,
    mg's 164.74 with .2 spread,
    precision moly coat 171.96 with a .8,
and sns coated 175.8 with .4 spread.

Going to load up all the bullets using the same powder that I use for my competition loads, Titegroup. I use 5.2grain load for 165gr bullet, I use the same load for the 170gr precision moly coat, and will back it down to 5.0 for the 175gr SNS casting. Should be around a 167-169 power factor, but will get some chrono readings on them as well.
Planning on getting some video to compare the smoke and accuracy of all the bullets and will post here.

Looking forward to the results... I am considering limited next year and wouldn't mind giving $ to SNS.

I'd be interested to know it's advantages such as less smoke, less leading and maybe some lubrication. Might be a good bullet for Cowboy.

There is a thread on cast boolits about powder coating cast bullets for the above reasons. Supposedly eliminates leading from wrong sized/hardness of bullets.

Loaded up the SNS Casting new coated bullets and did some comparisons with
    165gr Montana Gold FMJ
    165gr Rainier plated HP
    170gr Precision Bullets moly coat

I am loading Titegroup with a S&B small rifle primer, 5.2grains for the 165's and 170 and 5.0grains for the 175gr SNS

I forgot my pistol rest to do accuracy testing, and I am not pleased with the accuracy I was getting for any of the loads, but the SNS grouped the best

I will get chrono info up after Monday and some more accuracy testing done, set up better this time.

Its quite similar to powder coating... For those that dont know, powder coating the base will stop the lead smoke, replaces the lube that is normally needed for cast bullets, and make size/hardness much more forgiving when it comes to leading the barrel...

"Just scanned over the info concerning powdercoating boolits for the 300 BLK OUT. I was looking for the velocities, I would like to get some screaming 125gr 357 mag loads or some hot 125gr 38sp loads for my daughter. Does anyone know what the max velocity is for coated bullets? Looked at the the SNS sight but they did not state what they recommended, just reduced smoke and fouling, which is good."

I was hoping for an easier replacement for 357 mag bullets. So I e-mailed Donnie Miculek at SNS bullets about the velocities for the powdercoated cast bullets. He replied that they should be loaded at cast bullet data.

There are a few on castboolits pushing them over 2k and IIRC one guy pushed some .223 closer to 3k but I can't recall how accuracy was...

On Monday did a little more accuracy testing, took the rest, still not an idea set up, but was able to get some good results

At what distance were you shooting? The coating is interesting, but I don't see anything stating it's composition. I don't like moly.

It's a polymer based coating, as I understand it. I've used the Bayou version, and it's very good stuff. It doesn't come off all over your hand like moly coating.

    Walked off 25 yards approx

was using a pistol rest, but it was balanced on the top of board and moved around on each shot, and I was standing behind it crouched down to line up each shot.

I know that if I were set up right at 25 yards I could put a 10 shot group together all touching at and 1 inch or under

I am using my competition limited gun with Nowlin Bull barrel, range brass and s&b primers with titegroup.
I also shot a group of 10 of Montana Gold jhp 165gr bullets that day, forgot to take a picture, and it was a tight little group like this as well
they are $186/1000, twice as much as the SNS casting
